My Mining Shack

I recently got back into Minecraft and decided I wanted to do things differently. Normally when I play I gather a little wood, make some tools and build a small mud hut to survive the night. This time I decided I'd myself a little house instead. I didn't really pick this location for any reason, got stuck here as night was falling so I deiced this would be the place. As I was waiting for morning I decided to dig down in a spiral pattern and ended up digging into a cave system. I'v been playing for about 10 hours so far and I'm stilling trying to clear out the massive cave system. Soon I'll start work on my main house, a viking inspired long house and later on maybe even a massive pyramid!

Fount of house, I added a gravel walkway and some flowers. The Sign above the door reads " Tom's Mining Shack"

Inside of my shack, added some chests and a couple beds. The Trap door near the Crafting Table leads to my mine

New Texture Pack and Playing Skin

Image from http://www.planetminecraft.com/texture_pack/ozos-texture-pack/
After not having played Minecraft for a couple months when I came back I felt like a change, deciding to use a new texture pack and player skin. The texture pack I ended up choosing is called OzoCraft (http://www.planetminecraft.com/texture_pack/ozos-texture-pack/) and is a pretty damn epic pack! Not only does it change the textures of the game but it also includes some new freaky sounds (I swear I headed an Enderman whispering I love You). This is an extremely nice looking pack and I recommend it to anyone looking for a nice clean pack with a little hint of RPG elements.

As for my skin, I went with something basic yet awesome. Red the Pokemon Trainer.

Baby Chicken!

When i was sorting out my inventory, I noticed one Egg. I decided to get rid of it as it was just using up inventory space. Instead of destroying it I threw it at my sister (she was playing on my SP map at the time) and to my amazement it turned into a little chicken! This only has a 1/8 chance of happening and is the first time I have ever managed to spawn one!

(I didn't notice until after I took the screenshot that I was taunting the little chicken with its mothers burnt carcass....)

Extreme Hills Biome

While I was out collecting some Wood and Food I came across my first Extreme Hills Biome. As you can see from the pictures, these hills are a hot spot for the lighting bug. Unfortunately while I was exploring I didn't come across any Emerald Veins but I did manage to collect over a stack of raw Chicken and about half a stack of raw Pork Chops! These hills have to be some of the best scenery in Minecraft, so many vast hills to explore and build upon.

Those Pesky villagers...

As with every new world, I like to dig a tunnel down to level 12 (Y) in search of Diamonds! I build this tunnel into one of the village little houses (I live in the new Desert village). At night all the Villagers run indoors and as everyone knows. Unfortunately when they run into this house the go all the way down into my mine, and normally get lost. As i was exploring a random cave system, I found one of my Blacksmiths just waiting there staring at me. Then he followed me around and eventually got shot by a skeleton and died (arrow flew past me and hit him).

Some Lucky Enchantments (Will be constantly updated)

In this post I will be posting screenshots of all the cool and rare Enchants I get (ones I'v never had before). They might not seem that interesting but Id like to keep a copy of all the Enchantments I'v managed to get and might never get again.

Jungle Temple

Today while I was out looking for some Squids so I could grab some Ink Sacks to make my first Book and Quill (Book of Truth By Solidsnake1945) I came across a Jungle. Curious as to what was inside I ventured onward. To my amazement I found this slightly hidden structure. The structure was a Jungle Temple! As there was no visible way in, I broke a hole in the roof and fell through.

The first thing I saw was a staircase leading down, I followed it into a chamber. On might left there were three switches, I ignored them and followed the tunnel to my right. As I was walking down the tunnel I was wondering if there was going to be any Tripwire within, as soon as this cross my mind an arrow went flying past me (somehow I managed to dodge it) and when I look down I saw I had tripped the wire. I collected them and went on (along with the Dispenser). As turned a corner I saw the chest and a Dispenser just behind it, this meant there had to be another Tripwire near by. It was just in front of the chest. Lucky I saw it before hand, destroyed it and the Dispenser and took them both.

After this I went back to check on those switches, being lazy I just mined my way through the stone with reviled a Chest, three Sticky Pistons, some Redstone and a Repeater. I took everything. The only thing of value in the Chests was about fifteen Gold Bars. I also took about two stacks of Moss Stone (unfortunately I ran out of space) hopefully Ill come across that temple again (for the Moss Stone) or find another with better loot.

This is what a Cocoa Pod looks like in Minecraft. The fully grown brown ones drop three Cocoa Beans. They also some in green and in various sizes.

New Update, Epic Structures

Today I downloaded the new Minecraft patch 1.3.1. The first thing I did was try to find a desert world to find a Temple. So I went looking for a desert seed. Unfortunately I never found an actual desert seed but lucky for me, willing using a random seed (hotelcalifornia) I found one right next to my spawn. The first thing I did was go explore it with nothing but my bare hands (I had forgot to put the bonus chest option in) and punched out this random blue piece of wool. I jumped thought the hole and landed on a pressure plate, which blew me up along with all the loot. I could have this so I deleted that world, created a new world using the same seed and HAVING bonus chests enabled, went back, dug next to the blue wool, fell down and got my loot. In total there was about twenty Gold bars, eighteen Iron Bars, three Emeralds and three Diamonds along with many other various items. I then dug my way out and went on to explore.

As I felt the Temple I noticed a small desert village in the distance. I went off the explore it and see if it had any loot for me to steal. Unfortunately it had nothing of value (no forge) so I just destroyed one of the small house (far away from the view of my temple) because i was in need of the blocks, took all the doors and wheat and left.

Since finding the Temple I have made it into my house and flattened out the sand out side.

My Minecraft Family

Here are my wolfs. When I was out farming string for a fishing rod (So I could catch some Fish for a Cat) and I came across some Wolfs behind my mountain, which I tamed. The first one only needed one Bone while the second needed three or four. As I was hunting thought the night they got injured so I fed them both some Rotten Flesh, which since 1.2.5 makes them have puppies (Any meat will do, I just use Flesh because it has no other use for me). So far I'v had two puppies.
Near my house there is a Jungle Biome. When I had gathered ten Fish I went there in search of an Ocelot. Unfortunately I only managed to find one which I tamed asap. I love this one because of its greens eyes.
Here is my complete Minecraft family (One of the puppies has grown up)

New World, New House, New Mine

(House built on the 12-7-2012)
My new house. I mined into a mountain and dug out a 10x10 room and filled the walls with wood and making it 9x9. For the roof and floor I decide to use logs (which when using stone tools takes ages). I needed about three stacks of logs to finish the whole room. At each side, in the middle I carved in a 3x2 hole for my chests. But because it wasn't even, at one side I placed a Crafting Bench and at the other a Furnace (across from each other). Near the door I placed a stair and two Wooden Slabs. Then I thought i'd be needing more furnaces so I placed two one space away from the slabs on either side. Directly adjacent to them I placed beds. Next to the left bed (As if you where looking from the door) I placed a Jukebox and the right bed I placed an Enchanting Table. And finally, in the middle I carved out a 3x1 hole dug severn block down and put a Trap Door at the top leading to mine.
This is my mine which goes straight down to level twelve. So far I have found fifteen of so diamonds, which took me about half an hour to an hour. The stair way down it three blocks in width and about four in hight. With it being so high you can run down whilst not hitting your head, which slows your character down.

My first Snowman

Above are the Snowmen I created on my new world. I spawned in a Tundra Biome and thought Snowmen would be the perfect guards (Even though they do absolutely nothing). I think they freaky as hell and incredibly cool. All together I have about four Snowmen patrolling around my house, i use them like an early warning system for mobs by listening for snowballs being thrown or the sound of a mob being injured (even though they do no damage, you still hear a noise as if they were damaged.

To create you need two Snow blocks on top of one another and one pumpkin at the top, giving it its head.

Cool looking pattern found by my friend Shane

This was a really cool sequence of three different ores my friend Shane found while doing some mining for me. The Gold (right), Redstone (middle) and Lapis Lazuli (left) really looked nice like this. I am using the oCd Texture pack made by diSCo at the moment and I think it is the best texture pack for mining out large areas.

Rare Sight - Spider Jockey

While I was out hunting for levels one night I cam across my second ever Spider Jockey! I knew I had to grab a screenshot and believe me, this was more difficult then it sounds. Because I fight in the desert (Its open, generally flat and away from my structures) I don't fill in the holes creepers make (Mainly because I think it look much cooler as a war zone). When trying to run and Screenshot the Spider Jockey I must have fell into about 5 holes, which made these the only good screenshot I could manage to take.

Giant Slime

Here's a Giant Slime I found while searching for Gold. I thought I'd upload the Screenshot because its the first Giant Slime I have ever seen, and I think Slimes are epic!

My Melon farm in the Desert

Here is the glass top of my farm. The walls around the farm are build out of Sandstone and the top around the glass is just plain Sand instead of Sandstone because it gave it a weird look.

This is the entrance to the farm. Just a basic trapdoor and ladder system.

Here is my farm, it makes almost two stacks of melon and is 10x8 blocks, with two of the blocks within filled with water which gives the Melons enough water to grow.

I put a chest within the wall of my farm to place some seeds and a few spare Hoes.

Here is the ladder leading to the exit/entrance of my farm.

My Brewery

Here is what I call my "Brewery". I put a Brewing Stand on top of a Wooden Plank and two Chests next to it. In the left Chest I place my completed and base Potions, in the right my empty Glass Bottles and the Materials needed to make the potions.

Here is my second brewing area with three extra Brewing Stands. (Each Brewing House is in a separate house oppisite from each other)

I put up two Signs here to remind myself which ingredient makes the potion more potent (Powerful) and which makes its effects last longer.

My New NPC (Now mine) Village

Here is the little village I found. I found the village while I was out near my desert hunter the evil monsters of the night farming ingredients and experience points for enchanting. This is the first NPC village I have ever found and compared to the few I have seen, its one of the best, nice and flat, decent sized rooms and a nice farm near a well.
My Storage room, three chests, one for junk, one for my useful items and one for food.

Here's my bed room, two Beds with three Piston tables and a Melon on the middle table.

This is the crafting room, I haven't changed anything in here at all.

Here is my enchanting room, I made the room a little wider then it was and put a stack three Bookshelf's in each corner and the Enchanting Table in the middle.

Here are the inhabitants of the village, I'm guessing they are park of some great cult that follows the Muppet Gonzo.

Here's my little pack of wolfs they helped me hunt through the night.
